Programs for Students

The Office of the Chancellor at Rutgers University–New Brunswick provides guidance and services to an incredibly diverse student body. Our departments ensure that all students, regardless of their backgrounds, have access to the resources they need to transition into college smoothly and to overcome academic challenges. Additionally, we are committed to innovation in undergraduate education both in and beyond the classroom and create physical spaces and programs to support leading-edge trends in teaching and learning.

High-Impact Programs

4WARD: Career Pathways Program

This exclusive, high-impact, multi-year experience is designed to assist first-year undergraduate student participants in reaching post-graduation success with access to unique recruiting resources and mentoring.

Aresty Research Center

Undergraduate students explore and engage with scholarly research. Through peer, staff, and faculty mentorship, students develop research skills in a formal research setting and present their findings universitywide at the annual symposium.

Byrne Seminars

Our one-credit seminars offer first-year students the chance to experience the excitement of original research as faculty members share their curiosity, their intellectual passion, and development of new ideas and fields of knowledge.

First-Year Interest Group Seminars (FIGS)

First-Year Interest Group Seminars (FIGS) are one-credit seminars taught by experienced upperclass students that introduce first-year students to university resources and a career field of their choice during the fall of their first semester at Rutgers.

Innovation, Design, and Entrepreneurship Academy

Intended to complement any major of study, IDEA empowers undergraduate students to explore their interests, apply their creativity, enhance their skillset, and learn about different fields of study that can help them determine their career path.

Louis Stokes Alliance for Minority Participation

LSAMP provides academic support and specialized advising for undergraduate students from historically underrepresented groups interested in non-medical STEM professions.

Undergraduate and graduate students receive guidance and support during all stages of the application process for major national fellowships and awards.

On-Campus Work Experience Network (OWN) Program

This unique and customized program will supplement student federal work-study job placements through interactive leadership workshops and mentorship.

Phi Beta Kappa

Each year, the most outstanding juniors and seniors are nominated to join Phi Beta Kappa, the nation's oldest and most prestigious liberal arts honor society.

Rutgers Internship Co-op Course (RICC)

Students can earn three or six general elective academic credits during the spring, summer, or fall semesters when they take this course concurrently with an internship experience.

We serve as the policy and advocacy hub for transfer, non-traditional, and adult learners, to support student success efforts via direct outreach and coordination of access to academic resources at Rutgers–New Brunswick.

Pre-Law Advising

Students interested in pursuing a law degree upon graduation from Rutgers receive counseling and resources. Advisors guide students throughout their undergraduate careers to ensure they gain the depth and breadth of experience required for successful admission to law school.

RU1st

The RU1st initiative provides opportunities for first-generation students to have a successful personal, professional, academic, and social college experience. Students gain access to the RU1st transition course, academic advising and support, leadership experiences, and educational opportunity grants.

Summer and Winter Sessions

Summer and Winter Session courses support academic achievement and personal development. These sessions provide students the opportunity to graduate early, stay on track for graduation, improve their GPA, enhance their overall academic experience, and open doors to new areas of interest.
