Executive Search: Dean of Mason Gross School of the Arts

Rutgers–New Brunswick is seeking an experienced and visionary leader and scholar to serve as Dean of the Mason Gross School of the Arts. Mason Gross School of the Arts (MGSA) at Rutgers University comprises a vibrant community of more than 1,000 creators—dancers, filmmakers, musicians, theater artists, visual artists, and designers with a commitment to making innovative and purposeful contributions to the wider community—onstage, backstage, in the gallery, the classroom, the studio, and beyond. We aim to identify a thoughtful and dynamic leader who will advance the school’s mission with a strong commitment to excellence and equity.

Rutgers–New Brunswick is partnering with Isaacson, Miller (IM) on this search process. Nominations of candidates for the MGSA dean position may be sent to jmildner@imsearch.com.

  • Members of the Mason Gross School of the Arts community are cordially invited to meet each of the three MGSA dean finalist candidates at a series of community forums. These forums are an opportunity for you to hear directly from the candidates about their interest in the Mason Gross School of the Arts, and to learn more about them through a moderated Q&A session.

    Please complete the registration form and RSVP for each forum. We welcome you to submit your questions for the moderated Q&A through this form as well.

  • Members of the Mason Gross community were invited to listening sessions to provide feedback that will be used to develop the leadership profile and help guide the search committee in identifying a new dean. Listening sessions for faculty, staff, and students were scheduled as follows:

    Student Listening Session

    • Thursday, October 24, 2024 from 2 pm - 2:45 pm

    Staff Listening Session

    • Thursday, October 24, 2024 from 3 pm - 4 pm

    Open Listening Session (open to all students, staff, and faculty)

    • Wednesday, October 30, 2024 from 12 noon - 1 pm

  • The search committee was formed by the Office of the Chancellor in collaboration with the leadership of the school and with the aim of creating a broad and representative group. The primary role of the committee will be to develop the leadership profile, aid in the evaluation of the candidates, interview potential candidates, and make a recommendation to the chancellor.
