Community Giving During the Thanksgiving and Holiday Season

Dear Rutgers–New Brunswick Community,

As we look forward to Thanksgiving and the holiday season, we should remember those in our communities who will struggle to fill their tables.

As is our Rutgers tradition, I ask you to consider making donations to these New Jersey- and New Brunswick-focused organizations that address hunger and food insecurity across our region:

You can also give to the Student Basic Needs Fund, give to various initiatives that Support Students, or donate through your school’s seasonal giving program, if applicable.

We ask that you consider donating soon, to enable these organizations to share your generosity with their clients and client families during the holiday season.

Coming Soon: Expansion of Rutgers Against Hunger (RAH)

You may notice that this appeal for your donations directly to these community organizations represents a departure from the traditional Rutgers Against Hunger Adopt-a-Family campaign. This change is necessary to enable an ongoing expansion of Rutgers Against Hunger, to create a larger and more active community engagement opportunity for Rutgers–New Brunswick.

The Rutgers Against Hunger expansion will include the establishment of a living lab that will continue its year-round services while providing experiential learning and community engagement opportunities for students, community members, and New Jersey community organizations working on food security and access issues. The School of Environmental and Biological Sciences will provide further details about this exciting development during the coming months.

Thank you for your continued support of our community partners who help residents of our neighboring communities and the state of New Jersey meet their most basic needs.
