Access Week Begins February 19

Dear Rutgers–New Brunswick Community:

As the nation’s #15 top public university, Rutgers–New Brunswick is committed to student success. We live that commitment by providing a world-class, rigorous education—and making that education accessible to all students who qualify, regardless of their background.

To meet student needs we offer financial support, mentoring and academic advising, support for those with disabilities, and recognition of the needs of first-generation students and those from under-represented backgrounds.

Access Week 2024, beginning February 19 and led by the Rutgers Division of Diversity, Inclusion, and Community Engagement, is our annual celebration of that commitment—and a reminder of the need for an equity mindset to help all students thrive.

The annual, week-long initiative includes a range of public lectures; faculty, staff, and student workshops, and student programming; and highlights the academic, social, and cultural resources essential for the success of first-generation, low-income, and other underserved student groups.

The commitment to access for all students who qualify is personal to me, because I was the first member of my family to attend college. I know first-hand that a university education can change lives and elevate families and communities, and I remember and appreciate every individual, team, and department that supported me through my college journey.

In addition to exploring Access Week, I invite you to learn more about Rutgers–New Brunswick’s Resources for Student Success and the Strategic Priorities and Initiatives that will help shape the future of student access and success.
