Final Report from the Task Force on Inclusion and Community Values

Dear Members of the Rutgers University–New Brunswick community:

I am pleased to announce that the Task Force on Inclusion and Community Values has presented me with its findings after its diligent 15-month deliberation.

I convened the Task Force in November 2015 to gather information on the climate of inclusion on campus; to define core values that reflect the university’s commitment to creating a safe and inclusive community; and to recommend tangible changes that will reflect these aspirational, but achievable, core values.

I would like to convey my immense gratitude to the members of the Task Force for their hard work and dedication to this endeavor, and to thank co-chairs Dr. Edward Ramsamy, Associate Professor and Chair of Africana Studies in the School of Arts and Sciences, and Brianna Battle, now a Rutgers alumna serving as a staff assistant in the office of Congresswoman Jan Schakowsky (D-IL), for leading this tremendous effort. The Task Force will convene a Town Hall meeting on Thursday, April 13 at 6:30 p.m. in the Rutgers Academic Building (15 Seminary Place, Room 2160) to discuss their final report.  I hope you will join me at this important forum as the Task Force shares its key findings and recommendations.
