Unleashing Independence: The Vital Role of Service Dogs
Discover how service dogs open doors to freedom, confidence, and inclusion. This hybrid event will bring together experts and everyday partners in the service-dog community for an inside look at this life-changing work.
A dynamic panel will feature representatives from The Seeing Eye (Morristown, NJ) and Canine Companions for Independence, along with service-dog users, puppy raisers, and professional trainers. Panelists will share personal stories and professional insights, explore the training and placement process, and highlight the profound ways these highly skilled dogs enhance mobility, safety, and emotional well-being.
The program will include a live service-dog demonstration, showcasing the intelligence and teamwork that make these partnerships possible. A moderated discussion and audience Q&A will follow, giving attendees a chance to learn more about volunteering, puppy raising, and supporting the mission of service-dog organizations.
This event is free and open to faculty, staff, students, and the public. Join us in person at Rutgers University’s Alexander Library or participate virtually through Zoom to witness how service dogs help unleash independence every day.
