Our Hearts Are with New Zealand

Dear Members of the Rutgers–New Brunswick and RBHS Community:

This morning, we woke up to details of yet another horrible massacre, the likes of which are becoming all too common. Nearly 50 people have lost their lives and dozens more injured following attacks on mosques in New Zealand.

While this tragedy has occurred thousands of miles away, we feel the effects personally. Many of our students, faculty and staff practice the Islamic faith, and so many more are from immigrant families. Please know that we are sending our support and sympathies during this difficult time.

Rutgers' greatest strength lies in the diversity of our campus community. We all bring unique perspectives, talents and skills that make our campuses vibrant. When something as callous and senseless as this occurs, it is an assault on one of our highest values: the rich diversity that makes us all so much better. Where some seek to divide our world, Rutgers is firm in its commitment to foster a united, inclusive and equitable community.

We stand with you. Our thoughts are with you. And our campus resources are at your full disposal. We urge anyone who would like counseling or other support to utilize the resources listed below. We are standing by to assist.
