Remembering a Rutgers Graduate Killed in the New York City Attack

To Members of the Rutgers University–New Brunswick Community:

Today we learned of the tragic loss of Darren Drake, a member of the Rutgers family who died in yesterday's terror attack in New York City.

Darren was a New Milford, N.J., native and resident who graduated from Rutgers College in 2007 with a bachelor's degree in Political Science. He was known for his big heart, his commitment to his community, and his passion for learning.

Darren served as president and vice president on the New Milford Board of Education, where he was respected for his devotion to children and their education as well as for his business skills, intelligence, and friendliness.

He also had a lifelong penchant for learning: after graduating from Rutgers, he earned a master's degree from Fairleigh Dickinson University and was pursuing a second master's degree at Stevens Institute of Technology.

Darren was also successful in his career, working as a project manager at Moody's Investors Service at the World Trade Center.

On behalf of the entire Rutgers community, I want to express our heartfelt condolences to Darren's family and his friends who knew him here at Rutgers. I ask that you keep Darren's parents foremost in your thoughts and prayers.
