Health and Wellness
Your physical and emotional well-being deserve as much attention as your degree. Here, that belief is at the heart of how students live, learn, and grow.
Be Your Best Self at Rutgers
To make the most of your time here, you need to feel your best. You’ll find a deep network of health services designed to support your whole self.
Rest easy, knowing that Rutgers Student Health has your back. They're your primary care headquarters on campus, with lots of services including preventive, routine, chronic condition, reproductive, and acute injury and illness care. We are also able to provide medications to treat many common health conditions. In a medical emergency, dial 911 or call the Rutgers University Police Department at 848-932-7211.
You also have access to Counseling, Alcohol and Other Drug Assistance Program and Psychiatric Services (CAPS), ready to help with any challenges during the semester, including individual/group therapy, crisis intervention, alcohol and drug assistance programs, medication management, workshops, and community referrals. In a mental health emergency, contact Acute Psychiatric Services (APS) at 855-515-5700 or call or text 988.
Health Outreach, Promotion, and Education (HOPE)
And because wellness is about learning, growing, and staying connected, HOPE provides programs and resources that support a healthy campus community. Our professional staff, peer educators, and wellness ambassadors provide workshops and outreach that allow groups to explore topics related to health,
well-being, and community care. HOPE also provides access to peer leadership opportunities, wellness coaching, Bystander Intervention training, Campus Connect Suicide Prevention training, Mental Health First Aid, safer sex supplies, and several other resources.
Stay Active with Rutgers Recreation
Keep your head clear and your energy up by taking advantage of the state-of-the-art recreation centers, fully equipped gyms, and lots of free and fun fitness classes across all campuses. Jump into a pickup game, do a few laps, strike a pose in a yoga class, or even book a student-discounted massage. It’s your downtime, spend it however you like. TIP: Avoid the crowds by downloading the RURec2Go app, which updates gym occupancy and class schedules in real time.
