Steps to Apply
Applying here is simple. Just choose your application platform, submit your academic record, and track everything through your personal applicant portal.
Step 1
First-year students can apply through the Common App or the Rutgers Application. Transfer students must use the Rutgers Application.
Step 2
Use your Rutgers CommunityID to access the Application Portal and submit required documents. Common App applicants will receive CommunityID setup instructions by email.
Step 3
Self-report your courses and grades using the Self-reported Transcript and Academic Record System (STARS) and link it to your application within one week of applying. High school graduates are exempt.

Transfer Applicants
Transfer applicants have a high school diploma/GED and will have completed at least 12 college credits, with a college transcript showing these courses and final grades earned.
International Applicants
International applicants meet unique requirements involving enrollment in/graduation from high school outside of the U.S. and current passport status.
Part-time and Non-degree Applicants
Part-timers are students enrolled for fewer than 12 credits in one semester, whereas non-degree students seek to further their knowledge without pursuing a formal degree.
Re-Enrollment Applicants
Previous undergrads working toward a degree may wish to return to their previous school at Rutgers or perhaps a different one, or if they’ve already earned a Rutgers degree they might want to pursue a second.
Students Transferring Within Rutgers
Currently enrolled undergrads working toward a degree and looking to apply to another school within the university should submit the school-to-school transfer application.

Graduate students have more than 200 degree programs to choose from, with many ranked in the top 25 nationally, in addition to hundreds of continuing education courses. Our applicants pursue master’s degrees, doctoral degrees, professional credit, certificates, or non-degree study.
