Residence Halls
Most first-year students hit the ground running in the residence halls, a classic for a reason: dive in, meet your neighbors, and find your crowd. Residence halls are spread out across Rutgers–New Brunswick's campuses. Think of them as different neighborhoods in one city, each with its own vibe.
Busch Campus offers easy access to Werblin Recreation Center, the Rutgers football stadium, intramural fields, and class and lab space for the Schools of Engineering and Pharmacy. Busch is home to traditional first-year residence halls, suite-style living, and apartments for both undergraduate and graduate students.
College Avenue is a vibrant campus adjacent to downtown New Brunswick with theaters and restaurants, student-friendly shopping and nightlife, and the NJ Transit train station. The campus hosts traditional residence halls, some along the Raritan River, and two modern apartment buildings for the upperclass and transfer residents. The College Avenue Campus also features the brand-new Honors College Building.
Traditional residence halls are spread across Cook’s wooded acres and green fields. Cook also houses upperclass and graduate students in garden-style apartments. In addition to some co-ed housing options, Douglass Campus is home to Douglass Residential College (DRC), which offers women the opportunity to live in single-gender residence halls and apartments. The two campuses are commonly referred to as Cook/Douglass due to their proximity to one another.
Livingston Campus is a lively, active, suburban campus with a downtown feel. It has a large first-year population in traditional residence halls as well as apartment-style living for upperclass students.

The estimated cost for on-campus room and board is between $15,000 and $16,000. You can view the current housing rates and billing information, and also calculate the total cost of attendance by including tuition and fees.
Incoming students who have accepted their offer of admission and have created a NetID can begin by submitting an initial housing application. Students will then be notified about participation in the housing selection process and will pay a housing deposit.
