Join the Center for European Studies for a mini two-day symposium featuring experts in European history, sociology, and political science. 

On Tuesday, participate in Whiteness in Post-national Europe, a conversation between Hans Kundnani and Emily Marker upon the publication of Eurowhiteness: Culture, Empire and Race in the European Project. Moderated by Sadia Abbas, director of the Center for European Studies, a brief reception will follow.

On Wednesday, Belinda Davis, professor of History, will moderate a roundtable discussion about Critical reflections on Europe, empire and race. Panelists include:

  • Hans Kundnani, Open Society Foundations Ideas Workshop fellow, associate fellow at the Royal Institute of International Affairs 
  • Emily Marker, associate professor of European and Global History
  • Peo Hansen, professor of Political Science at the Institute for Research on Migration, Ethnicity and Society (REMESO), Linköping University
  • Megan Brown, associate professor of Modern European History at Swarthmore College
  • József Böröcz, professor of Sociology 
  • Sadia Abbas, director of the Center for European Studies
