Join the Department of Animal Sciences and Barbara Murphy, Equine Programme director and head of subject for Equine Science, University College Dublin for a spring seminar that relates to chronobiology and how environmental cues, primarily photoperiod, regulate biological rhythms (i.e. the body clock) and impact health and fertility in horses. Specifically, circadian and circannual rhythms will be discussed in relation to their involvement in important reproductive phenomena and how disruption of these rhythms impacts growth, health, and fertility in the horse. Research on the development of novel lighting technology that help to support the horse's biological clock will be shared.
