Withdrawal and Leave of Absence Checklist and Resources
Withdrawal from all courses can affect financial aid (current and future), refunds, plans for degree completion, and re-enrollment plans. Be sure to contact each applicable office for important advising.
Getting Started
Throughout the semester, a variety of circumstances may lead you to consider whether you should remain enrolled. The best decision will be determined by a variety of factors: the specific circumstances, the number of degree credits earned, the time in the semester, money paid or owed, and academic goals.
It is import to speak with an academic and financial aid advisor, and depending on factors such as your affiliation with a special program or your need for campus services, you should also consult with each applicable office.
The date in which you withdraw has important implications for financial aid as it can impact your eligibility for financial aid in the current and future terms. An earlier withdraw date will not necessarily result in a refund if you receive financial aid.
Find more information on refunds or charges when withdrawing from all courses on the Student Accounting website.

Email, Learning Management Systems, and Software
Students should verify any Information Technology (IT) services needed after withdrawing from all courses. Some services which require authentication (NetID and Password) have a grace period which may last for one semester or longer. Examples include WebEx and ScarletMail; however, others like Rutgers Connect (MS365) and Box do not have a grace period and access will end once a student is no longer registered. Accounts may be permanently deleted following the grace period, so be sure to transfer your personal data promptly upon withdrawal.
