Talking Across Difference: Fostering Civic Learning by Encouraging Dialogue
Engaging students in dialogue about contemporary issues from different perspectives, both inside and outside the classroom, fosters valuable democratic skills. This workshop will explore the benefits and challenges of incorporating vibrant political discussions into learning experiences. Participants will learn and practice evidence-based strategies and envision how to integrate these practices into their work with students. As we prepare for the 2024 election, this workshop will equip faculty and staff with the confidence to foster and support meaningful political discussions, enhancing the democratic learning of our students.
