Leadership Appointment Announcements

Dear Members of the Rutgers University–New Brunswick Community,

I write to share news of two new key leadership appointments in my cabinet.

After serving in the Chancellor's Office and assisting with the leadership transition for a year, Executive Vice Chancellor for Administration Karen Stubaus has moved to the Office of the Senior Vice President for Academic Affairs in Central Administration. I thank Karen for her many contributions to the Chancellor’s Office and wish her well in her new role.

I am very pleased to announce that Dr. Felicia McGinty, who currently serves as the Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs, will join the Chancellor's Office as the Executive Vice Chancellor of Administration and Planning, effective August 1, 2018. In this role, Felicia will be a key member of my senior leadership team and cabinet. She will work closely with me and the Interim Provost and Executive Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs, Dr. Wanda J. Blanchett, to advance the university forward nationally and within the Big Ten. 

Dr. McGinty will be responsible for leading and directing day-to-day non-academic operations of Rutgers–New Brunswick, including space management, infrastructure development, oversight for policy development, monitoring and compliance, and other critical functions that support the student experience and advance our academic research and service mission. Specifically, she will be responsible for providing strong administrative support, leadership, and oversight of strategic planning initiatives.

Felicia brings a wealth of experience to this critically important position. Over the past five years, she has led the Division of Student Affairs with distinction and has been the driving force to transform the student experience and create a climate that embraces diversity, inclusion, and equity. As Vice Chancellor of one of the largest administrative divisions at Rutgers–New Brunswick, she has interfaced with administrative and academic units across the institution, including Central Administration. Under her leadership, Student Affairs has emerged as a national leader, garnering recognition as "One of the Most Promising Places to Work," and has been featured by the White House and the Office on Violence Against Women for our comprehensive efforts to end sexual violence.

The Division of Student Affairs will remain in good and very capable hands. It is my pleasure to announce that Dr. Salvador Mena will join my cabinet as the new Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs, effective August 1, 2018. Salvador has been with Rutgers–New Brunswick since August 2014, serving as the Senior Associate Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs. Having spent the past 20+ years in higher education, Dr. Mena is a proven leader with a demonstrated track-record as an effective Student Affairs administrator. He brings a wealth of knowledge as a scholar-practitioner and significant expertise in leading complex organizations. Most importantly, he has an abiding commitment to our students, a deep appreciation of diversity, inclusion, and equity, and understands the complexity and ethos of our campus. I am confident he is the right person to build upon the successful trajectory of Rutgers–New Brunswick Student Affairs.
