Announcing Our 2021-22 Chancellor-Provost’s Awards for Faculty Excellence Recipients

Dear Rutgers University­–New Brunswick Community,

I proudly announce the recipients of the 2021-22 Chancellor-Provost’s Awards for Faculty Excellence, which recognize excellence in innovative teaching, cross-disciplinary research, public engagement, and service. The individuals receiving these awards were nominated by their colleagues for their outstanding contributions.

I present these awards with great pride in our entire Rutgers–New Brunswick faculty, and with admiration and gratitude for the outstanding work performed by all of our faculty members. This academic year has been an ongoing testimony to your strength and resilience as we have worked together to ensure the continuity of our academic excellence in the service of our students, the State of New Jersey, the nation, and the world.

  • The Chancellor-Provost Award for Excellence in Cross-Disciplinary Research, awarded to Carlos Decena, Associate Professor, Latino and Caribbean Studies, School of Arts and Sciences
  • The Chancellor-Provost Award for Excellence in Service, awarded to Jeffrey Friedman, Associate Professor, Dance, Mason Gross School of the Arts
  • The Chancellor-Provost Award for Excellence in STEM Diversity, awarded to Geraldine Cochran, Associate Professor of Professional Practice, Physics and Astronomy, School of Arts and Sciences
  • The Chancellor-Provost Award for Excellence in Teaching, awarded to Richard Miller, Professor, English, School of Arts and Sciences
  • The Chancellor-Provost Award for Excellence in Teaching by a Part-Time Lecturer, awarded to Anuja Kabra, Part-Time Lecturer 2, African, Middle Eastern, and South Asian Languages and Literatures, School of Arts and Sciences
  • The Chancellor-Provost Award for Excellence in Teaching Innovations, awarded to Annalisa Scacchioli, Assistant Teaching Professor, Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering, School of Engineering
  • The Chancellor-Provost Award for Global Impact, awarded to Ethel Brooks, Associate Professor, Women's, Gender, and Sexuality Studies and Sociology, School of Arts and Sciences
  • The Chancellor-Provost Award for Pioneering Research, awarded to Victoria Banyard, Professor, School of Social Work
