Big Ideas Submission Process
September 25, 2018
Dear Rutgers–New Brunswick Colleagues,
It is with great excitement that I invite you to submit a proposal for your "Big Idea."
Big Ideas are multidisciplinary, innovative, large-scale projects valued at $25 million or more that have the potential to create lasting, transformational impact by leveraging areas where Rutgers—New Brunswick is already uniquely positioned to lead.
One of our greatest strengths is our diverse university community. The interdisciplinary nature of Big Ideas echoes that sentiment and helps harness the breadth and depth of knowledge at Rutgers by championing collaboration among faculty, staff, and students, and across schools and units.
The process is also designed to develop projects that support our strategic priorities of:
- Strengthening Our Academic Core
- Building Faculty and Staff Excellence
- Transforming the Student Experience
- Advancing Our Inclusive, Diverse, and Cohesive Culture
- Enhancing Our Public Prominence
In 2014, we closed Our Rutgers, Our Future, the largest and most comprehensive fundraising campaign in the university's history, with a surpassed $1 billion goal. Just four years later, our ascent has steepened even further and we continue to climb in national rankings and draw record-breaking philanthropic support year after year.
As we prepare for the silent phase of our next comprehensive campaign, Big Ideas will help us enhance how we communicate transformational impact, heightening philanthropic support and further accelerating our momentum.
I urge each of you to take advantage of this opportunity to think big and to be bold.
Review Big Idea examples, read more about the submission process, and submit your Big Idea.
Thank you for your commitment to advancing our university.
Sincerely,
Christopher J. Molloy, Ph.D.
Interim Chancellor, Rutgers–New Brunswick
