Announcing Vice Chancellor for Diversity Search
May 18, 2018
Dear Colleagues:
We are pleased to announce the launch of our national search for a new Vice Chancellor for Diversity, Inclusion, and Community Engagement for Rutgers University–New Brunswick. We are also appreciative that Dean Francine Conway (GSAPP) has accepted our invitation to serve as Chair of the Search Committee.
In the coming weeks, we will identify and confirm individuals to serve on the search committee from across the University to ensure broad representation. The work of the search committee will commence in the fall.
Given the critical importance of this position to the University, Interim Provost and Executive Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs Wanda J. Blanchett will assume direct responsibility and oversight for the activities associated with our Vice Chancellor for Diversity and Inclusion office until the position is filled permanently.
We again wish to express our deepest gratitude to the outgoing Vice Chancellor for Diversity and Inclusion and Distinguished Professor in the School of Communication and Information, Dr. Jorge Schement, for his work in this area so critical to our identity and mission.
We will host a reception in recognition of Vice Chancellor Schement's work on Thursday, June 14th from 4:00-5:00pm in Winants Hall Assembly and Board Rooms. We invite you to attend this reception and join us in thanking Dr. Schement for his contributions and wishing him well as he returns to the School of Communication and Information faculty.
Sincerely,
Deba Dutta
Chancellor, Rutgers University–New Brunswick
