Meghan Rehbein: Administrative Dean of Douglass Residential College

Dear Rutgers–New Brunswick Community,

Please join me in congratulating Meghan Rehbein, whom I have appointed permanent Administrative Dean of Douglass Residential College. This appointment follows her distinguished service since last June as Interim Administrative Dean.

As Douglass’s interim leader, Administrative Dean Rehbein aligned roles and responsibilities to the College’s commitments and established a long-term planning process for program development and budgeting, including vehicles for students to participate in program improvement. She has formalized existing partnerships with academic schools and created new partnerships focused on research and programming around gender, including in the arts and social sciences. Dr. Rehbein has engaged Douglass in the Academic Master Plan process at Rutgers-New Brunswick, focusing on how Douglass’s proficiency in delivering high-impact first-year experiences can serve a wider population of students, and she has continued to meet and speak with alumni and build new relationships on behalf of Douglass. 

Dr. Rehbein previously served Douglass as Dean for Advancement. In each of her roles, she has focused on planning for Douglass’s future and on communications, sustainability, collaboration-building, and strengthening the college’s relationships with student leaders, staff, donors, and alumnae. She was involved in completing the college’s highly successful Power of 100 Years Campaign.

Dr. Rehbein has more than two decades of experience in nonprofit leadership, higher education, and health and human services organizations. Her research focuses on women’s leadership development in the nonprofit sector, specifically on gender and other disparities between the nonprofit workforce and leadership. 

I am deeply grateful for Administrative Dean Rehbein’s commitment to the continued success of Douglass and of Rutgers–New Brunswick. I am grateful as well to entire search committee, chaired by Interim Dean Dafna Lemish of the School of Communication and Information, that led the nationwide search that resulted in this appointment.
