Commemorating Disability Awareness Month

Dear Rutgers–New Brunswick Community,

As we commemorate Disability Awareness Month in October, I invite you to reflect on the vital role that individuals with disabilities play in making our community—one of the most diverse in the Big Ten—vibrant and inclusive.

Disability takes many forms, visible and invisible. Disability Awareness Month at Rutgers is our opportunity to recognize, bring awareness to, and learn about disabilities and the disability community. We value disability as an essential component of our incredible diversity.

Our Office of Disability Services provides students, faculty, and staff with resources for creating a more welcoming, inclusive, and equitable learning environment. Rutgers is a global leader in disability and employment research and is home to the Program for Disability Research at the School of Management and Labor Relations.

Please take a moment to explore our Disability Awareness Month website for a rich schedule of in-person and virtual events, information on how to be an ally, and more.
