Appointment of Dr. Angelica M. Diaz-Martinez as Associate Vice Provost for the Transition of the Division of Continuing Studies (DoCS)

December 2, 2025

Dear Colleagues,

I am pleased to share that Dr. Angelica M. Diaz-Martinez has been appointed Associate Vice Provost to support the transition of the Division of Continuing Studies (DoCS) at Rutgers University–New Brunswick. In this role, she is providing leadership to the Division—which formerly reported to the Executive Vice President for Academic Affairs—while also guiding its integration into the Rutgers–New Brunswick Chancellor’s organization. She is working in close collaboration with the Provost and the Senior Vice Chancellor for Finance to ensure that the Division’s programs are aligned with our academic priorities and long-term institutional goals.

The Division of Continuing Studies serves as a vital regional resource for lifelong learning and workforce development, advancing educational access and opportunity across New Jersey and beyond. Among its units are the Center for Government Services, which strengthens local government through training and professional development; the Makerspace, which expands experiential learning for students and supports research and innovation; the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute, which offers enriching non-credit courses for older learners; the Center for Continuing Professional Development, which provides upskilling, reemployment, and leadership training to communities across the state; and the Center for Mathematics, Science, and Computer Education, which partners with a majority of New Jersey school districts to advance K–12 teaching and learning.

Dr. Diaz-Martinez also serves as a Teaching Professor of Clinical Psychology in the Graduate School of Applied and Professional Psychology (GSAPP). Prior to joining Rutgers in 2017, she held senior leadership roles in both clinical and educational settings, including serving as Senior Vice President for Operations and Interim CEO/President of Cerebral Palsy of North Jersey, where she led strategic planning, oversaw multimillion-dollar budgets, and guided successful federal, state, and national accreditation efforts. She has directed counseling, psychological, and disability services at Stevens Institute of Technology; led the counseling department at The Pingry School; and built a record of scholarship and clinical innovation through faculty and supervisory positions at the former UMDNJ–Robert Wood Johnson Medical School.

Her experience also includes extensive service to the State of New Jersey through the Civil Service Commission’s Medical Review Panel, where she has served as Chairperson since 2006. A bilingual licensed psychologist in New Jersey and New York, Dr. Diaz-Martinez brings more than two decades of clinical practice, program development, and workforce leadership to this new role.

Please join me in welcoming Dr. Diaz-Martinez to this important position and in supporting her work during this period of transition.

Sincerely,

Francine Conway, Ph.D.
Chancellor and Distinguished Professor
