Professional Summary

Joshua Langberg, PhD is Rutgers-New Brunswick's inaugural chief wellness officer (CWO), as well as a clinical psychologist at the Graduate School of Applied & Professional Psychology (GSAPP), where he serves as Director of the Center for Youth Social Emotional Wellness (CYSEW). He also serves as a member of the Rutgers Youth Behavioral Health Initiative and Brandt Center leadership team.

Dr. Langberg has extensive leadership experience, including serving as the associate dean for Research and Operations and the associate dean for Research and Graduate Studies for the College of Humanities and Sciences at Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU).

Dr. Langberg’s PhD is in Clinical-Community Psychology from the University of South Carolina, and he completed internship at Duke University Medical Center and fellowship at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center. He has published over 150 peer reviewed publications, three books, and his program of research focused on adolescent and emerging adult mental health has been consistently funded by the National Institute of Mental Health and U.S. Department of Education. Dr. Langberg is also editor-in-chief of one of the leading journals focused on adolescent and emerging adult mental health, Research on Child and Adolescent Psychopathology (RCAP). As director of CYSEW, Dr. Langberg has demonstrated the ability to break down silos, working across disciplines to engage and empower the community to implement the structural level changes necessary to innovate and address the youth mental health crisis.
