Soon-to-graduate Scarlet Knights reminisce about their Rutgers experience and encourage incoming students to make the most of their time at the university
Soon, hundreds of Rutgers University-New Brunswick students will walk across a stage to claim their degrees.
In late April, members of Rutgers Communications and Marketing held free photography sessions near the Old Queens building on the College Avenue campus for soon-to-graduate students.
Several students shared their post-graduation plans, how they intend to apply their degrees, their favorite Rutgers memories and advice to incoming students.
Sivaragha Buddana
Degree: Computer Science and Data Science
How do you plan to use your degree?
Hopefully go to grad school. A lot of grad schools do ask for your undergraduate. Also, I plan to get a job in data science and computer science.
What is your favorite Rutgers memory?
It might seem a little boring, but it's hanging out with my friends at the student center. We made a lot of great memories throughout the years, and I'm looking forward to being with them for the rest of my life.
What advice do you have for incoming students?
Join as many clubs as you can. There's a lot of clubs at Rutgers for everyone and anything that you can really imagine. You can make your own club if you want. People will join. So, get involved with the school.

Oel A. Cruz Jr.
Degree: Master of Health Administration
What are your plans after graduation?
I'll be a commissioning officer for the U.S. Navy, where I will also work as a health care administrator.
What is your favorite Rutgers memory?
The faculty, the teachers. They made the experience for me. It was very engaging and I was able to basically cherish learning more in comparison to my younger years.
What advice do you have for incoming students?
Not to be closed-minded. Be open to adversity.

Khushi Kadakia
Degree: Public Health and Women's, Gender and Sexuality Studies
How do you plan to use your degree?
I want to specialize in sexual health education. During my time at Rutgers, I was a sexual health advocate and that gave me a lot of experience working with the community and college-age students.
What is your favorite Rutgers memory?
Going to Louisville, Kentucky, with Rutgers University Alternative Breaks and volunteering for a week.
What advice do you have for incoming students?
Don't be afraid to do things alone. Your friends might have different interests than you, so just be brave and just explore the campus by yourself.

Tyler Nordquist
Degree: Communications
What are your plans after graduation?
I'm going to get into the sports marketing industry. My goal is to work for the New York Jets in the future, but I want to start up my own business, doing NIL [name, image and likeness] and athlete representation for professional sports industries.
What is your favorite Rutgers memory?
Coming here on the first day and meeting all my new friends and doing all the events on College Avenue and being at the Yard at night and just hanging out with friends, eating food and relaxing.
What advice do you have for incoming students?
Embrace everything and appreciate in the moment, in the now, because it just goes by so quick.

Luis Solano-Sarabia
Degree: Exercise Science
What are your plans after graduation?
To gain experience in rehab facilitation as an aide and hoping to apply to physical therapy school in the upcoming year. I’m hoping to get more clinical experience in different types of setting and physical therapy, such as athletic training, exercise, physiology, experience and just overall just exploring the settings of the rehab world.
What is your favorite Rutgers memory?
The Rutgers homecoming tailgate.
What advice do you have for incoming students?
Always seek help even though you may be nervous and shy to ask. People are willing to help.

Anna Vernikov
Degree: Psychology
What are your plans after graduation?
Honestly, I'm just going to try to enjoy my summer, try to relax a little bit before I really start real life. I want to have my own business. I want to open up my own yoga studio, so I feel like a psych degree will help me really market my studio to the right audience.
What is your favorite Rutgers memory?
Meeting my best friends and living in the house with them together. That whole year was so much fun and it's a memory that I will never forget.
What advice do you have for incoming students?
Don't worry. Just have fun. You're here for four years, so don't let the stress override.

Anjali Vijan
Degree: Psychology
What are your plans after graduation?
I will be going on to a postgraduate associate role at the Yale Stress Center, and after that I plan to do my Ph.D. in clinical psychology.
I am really, really passionate about mental health research and mental health interventions, and something that I found really useful at Rutgers was being part of a research lab.
What is your favorite Rutgers memory?
I am a director with the Rutgers University Programming Association, also known as RUPA. Something that I'll always remember is the community built through RUPA and having so much fun at different events like Hot Dog Day and the bed races.
What advice do you have for incoming students?
When I came to Rutgers, I had a really hard time transitioning to college life, whether it was figuring out how to study or do work or make friends. I think really finding your community and getting involved is the most important thing you could do at Rutgers. Don't be afraid to take those risks.
