The program welcomes Science Fellows at any point in their career; whether you’re an early-career professional, looking to take a sabbatical year, or make a permanent career change, the Fellowship is an opportunity to gain invaluable practical experience. The Eagleton Institute collaborates with all Science Fellows to place them in a position with projects that align with their individual interests and goals, ensuring a uniquely productive, meaningful, and rewarding year. You'll also gain access to the extensive network of resources offered by the Institute and Rutgers University.

The Eagleton Institute of Politics has a vast network of established relationships with individuals in politics and government within the state and across the country. Fellows connect with and learn from distinguished faculty as well as prominent alumni from both public and private sectors. Many Fellowship alumni now hold full-time positions in state government and mentor Science Fellows in their placements. The Fellowship also provides access to exclusive university resources such as a vast library system, including PubMed and a legislative and public affairs database, a supercomputer network, professional development funds, and other services within Rutgers, a top 15 public university in the country.

Fellowship Benefits

Professional Development

Mentorships, professional development fund of $1,500 and networking sessions organized by the Institute.

Health Care Benefits

Medical, dental, and vision insurance is provided for the Science Fellow with coverage for spouses and dependents available for purchase.

Transportation

Getting in and out of Trenton is quick and easy with a robust transit system including frequent trains and buses connecting Trenton with New Brunswick, New York, Philadelphia, and surrounding areas.

Work/Life Balance

The program includes a total of 15 “flex” days to use as sick and/or vacation time, in addition to state-observed holidays. Science Fellows can assess Rutgers University recreation facilities as well as cultural and sporting events.
