The Academic Master Plan established a shared vision for Rutgers–New Brunswick. Building on that foundation, its next chapter brings greater focus to the areas where we can deepen academic excellence, expand opportunity, and strengthen our impact as a public research university.
Building on the Academic Master Plan
The Academic Master Plan brought Rutgers–New Brunswick together around four interconnected pillars:

- Community Engagement
Together, they established a shared framework for advancing our academic mission and helped strengthen the collaboration, infrastructure, and institutional capacity needed to support long-term progress. The four pillars describe the enduring dimensions of our academic mission. They continue to guide how Rutgers–New Brunswick advances scholarship, discovery, student achievement, and public engagement.
The next phase of the Academic Master Plan builds on this framework by focusing institutional efforts across five strategic areas.
